Make Pet health and wellness a concern during the drying process

By Dr. Cliff Faver
May 1, 2020
Most of the time we believe of drying as just a routine part of the grooming process, however must we be believing about the dryer’s utilize a lot more in depth? Do we understand exactly how it genuinely impacts the skin as well as hair?

The complying with uses some insight for any individual utilizing a dryer on an animal.

There are lots of kinds of outstanding dryers available which include stand, handheld as well as force dryers. force dryers have truly enabled groomers to enhance drying time, in addition to utilize them in other methods such as volumizing, deshedding, dematting as well as flattening a wavy coat, to name a few.

Something to think about when utilizing a force dryer is exactly how we are affecting the skin as well as hair. utilizing a force dryer on a filthy pet dog can push debris into the roots itself leading to prospective problems. This is commonly seen in breeds favoring a coarse, completed coat. Some groomers will likewise strike out a filthy coat in a deshedding process, particularly in medium coats like Huskies.

There are products as well as methods offered that will assist you accomplish a lovely surface as well as deshed these coarse coats in a much healthier way. This is accomplished by utilizing right coat–specific mineral shampoos, mineral rich/humectant conditioners as well as mineral rinses for coarseness, in addition to product as well as method for a safer method of doing a deshed.

Be mindful when blowing high velocity dryers so close to the skin in all coat types, however particularly in short as well as medium coats. Take note of the coat type that you are working with as well as change the method accordingly. The variations of nozzles available make it extremely basic to do the ideal thing for certain coats with a much healthier as well as safer outcome.

The drying process must not be taken for approved since you can cause unintentional problems on a compromised animal. After all, you are at times utilizing required air in addition to warm air, as well as if you are taking care of skin, coat or ear issues, you might potentially cause a major problem. The drying process might be a positive experience or a prospective unfavorable one, if done incorrectly.

Any unfavorable repercussion of the dryer is dependent on the condition of the hair as well as skin. If the hair as well as skin have not been prepped properly with high–quality products, drying might cause a new hold of problems. For instance, if the skin is left dry or irritated, a warm or hot dryer will boost the blood flow to the area which will stimulate a higher inflammatory reaction. And, if the dry skin has not been conditioned correctly, then the drying action will exacerbate the problem. This is likewise true if you have an open cuticle on the hair which enables for additionally dehydration, leading to dry, brittle hair that is prone to breakage as well as matting.

Correct conditioning plays a significant function in protecting skin as well as hair from damage. If an emollient type of conditioner is used, the compound sits on the surface of the hair as well as skin. Emollients are made from fats as well as oils, as well as when you bathe, the water does not mix with it. This is similar to trying to dry your hands after applying cheaper–quality hand lotion. The only method to dry it effectively is to eliminate the emollient completely. Counterproductively, this boosts the drying time, which dehydrates the skin as well as hair even more. the very best conditioners work as a humectant, which hydrates the hair without leaving the greasy, oily residue. In turn, it dries extremely swiftly without the prolonged drying time. great conditioning is the crucial to a successful drying session as well as a lovely groom.

After the hair as well as skin are moisturized properly during the bath, the drying process can be a terrific time to bond with your four–legged client, in addition to a excellent time for a health and wellness check. Often, when you are utilizing a dryer, you will discover sores, cuts, lumps, bumps, as well as modifications in the skin as well as hair that clients as well as vets will a lot of likely never see. This is a significant advantage to utilizing a dryer in a grooming setting.

Due to a few of these health and wellness issues, a appropriate air filtration system is a must–have in your grooming facility or mobile van as drying will deposit bacteria, fungus, dead cells as well as hair into the air you breathe. Ear, eye as well as nose security will likewise assist you prevent long–term health and wellness issues. go over this with a few of the professional groomers as well as they will tell you that they wanted that they were smarter about managing air high quality in their early days of grooming. Don’t fail to remember that the pet is likewise in the midst of this bacterianull

Cat Ladder Review: Catification at Its best

There’s no question that cats love to climb. vertical space in the form of cat trees and cat shelves is vital to supplying an enriched environment for indoor cats. The cat Ladder addresses this need in a way that’s creative, functional, and stunning – and a lot of of all, it lends itself to limitless possibilities in any home of any size.

I’ve had a catification challenge in my dining room/living room for lots of years. We have a large floor to ceiling cat tree in the corner near the sliding glass door and next to the dining room cabinet. Allegra and Ruby both like to hang out on the cat tree, and Allegra in particular also likes to hang out on the top of the dining cabinet (there’s a cat bed on top of the cabinet in the far corner.)

The problem arose when Ruby, who can be a bit of a brat, occasionally didn’t like the idea of Allegra peacefully kicking back on top of the dining room cabinet. The cabinet lacks an “off ramp” on the far side. The only way for Allegra to get off is to jump to the dining room table. It’s doable, but it’s quite a distance, and landing on the hard surface is going to be increasingly hard on her joints as she gets older.

I had debated placing a large cat tree on the far side of the dining room cabinet, but hadn’t found anything that wouldn’t completely overwhelm the relatively small space. I had considered shelves to supply a “stairway” from the top of the dining cabinet all the way to the sofa, but I didn’t like the idea of drilling holes into my walls without knowing for sure whether the girls would use the shelves.

Enter the cat Ladder! These beautifully created ladders come in 6 different sizes, from three to eight steps. They come in three different wood finishes and are also available unfinished. You also have a choice of four different carpet colors. The carpet pads attach with velcro strips and can be replaced if needed.

The cat Ladder does require some assembly, but the instructions are extraordinary in-depth with full color photographs. With my history of panicking when I see the words “some assembly required,” I confess to asking a pal to help, but once she put the first step on the rail, I realized just how basic assembly is: The rails come with the screws already drilled in, so all you have to do is push the step into the groove, tighten the screw with a screwdriver, attach the second rail, and you’re done!

I simply leaned the cat Ladder against the side of our dining room cabinet. The ladder is completely safe this way, and could not possibly be knocked over, even if the girls were to race up and down at full speed. The cat Ladder also comes with a mounting block that can be drilled into a wall for placement.

Within seconds of putting the cat Ladder up, Allegra went to explore, as you can see in the video below. Ruby followed quickly.

I love everything about the cat Ladder. It fixed our longstanding catification issue. I love that it’s easily moved, using lots of flexibility for placement, and to change things up. It’s a stunning piece of furniture, and best of all, the girls are using it every single day.

For a lot more information about the cat Ladder, some terrific photos of the lots of ways in which it can be used, and to purchase, please check out .

FTC Disclosure: I received this product for review at no charge. I also received a fee for writing this review. receiving the complimentary product and the fee did not influence my review. All reviews on The conscious cat will always reflect my sincere and unbiased opinion. Or, as the case may be, Allegra and Ruby’s sincere and unbiased opinion.

Is Your feline a vertical Pee-er?

This publish consists of some affiliate links*

Dealing with a feline who pees outside the litter box is one of the most discouraging problems feline parents may be dealt with with. We’ve previously attended to the different reasons why cats get rid of outside the litter box, including litter box aversion, urine marking, hormonal problems, as well as medical issues, here. Today, I’d like to address a less common, however nevertheless discouraging version of litter box behavior: cats who pee standing up, or vertical pee-ers, as I like to phone call them.

The difference between vertical peeing as well as spraying

Spraying is not to be confused with vertical peeing. Some cats, both male or female, will urinate inside the litter box either standing up, or they begin urinating in a squatting setting as well as then slowly stand up as they finish. as well as yes, female cats do this, as well – we’ve got our own citizen pee-er with Ruby.

Spraying, on the other hand, is a territorial behavior. Cats who spray stand upright as well as deposit a little amount of urine on vertical surfaces.  even though both male as well as female cats spray, the habits is mainly seen in unneutered male cats, as well as occurs a lot more commonly in multicat households, although even a single feline may spray.

Anatomy of a vertical pee-er

After I embraced Ruby, I couldn’t figure out why there was often a little amount of urine just behind the litter box. considering that the box is put in a corner against the wall, I understood that she couldn’t potentially have squatted back there, so exactly how did the urine end up outside the box? After a couple of days of being puzzled, I lastly caught her in the act.

She started out squatting as well as peeing horizontally, however slowly as well as slowly increased as well as wiggled her rear end throughout the duration of her peeing. A typical size litter box wasn’t high sufficient to consist of the urine.

And so the browse for the best litter box began.

The browse for the best litter box

I don’t like covered boxes. a lot of cats don’t like them either. They don’t like not being able to see while they’re doing their business. If covered boxes aren’t scooped promptly after the feline deposits something in them, the stench becomes concentrated inside the box (think of a covered litter box as the feline equivalent to a Port-a-Potty). I likewise like to be able to see what my cats are doing when they’re utilizing the box. Some health and wellness issues very first manifest with unusual habits in the litter box, such as straining.

Several good friends suggested that I get a big Rubbermaid or remove plastic storage container with high sides as well as cut an opening on one side that’s low sufficient so the cats can quickly get in as well as out. This can work well, however it likewise looks quite ugly. While my litter boxes aren’t the center of my decor, they are in quite visible areas (I don’t believe in hiding them in a dark corner), so I desired something that was at least somewhat pleasing to the eye.

There are a number of high-sided, uncovered litter boxes on the market, as well as I tried a lot of of them. a lot of worked 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time, I dealt with cleaning up urine that had spilled over the edges of the box. Both of my litter boxes sit on carpet, so this was not fun. Thankfully, the Anti-Icky Poo enzyme based cleaner I’ve been utilizing for many years totally eliminates urine spots as well as odors, even on (white!) carpet. For additional insurance, I put a Drymate Litter Mat underneath the boxes. now all I had to do when we had spillage was throw the mat in the washer, however I was still anxious about some urine making it past the mat onto the carpet.

The NVR Miss

Thankfully, I found the NVR miss litter box a year or so after I embraced Ruby. At the time, it was the greatest box on the market, as well as I believe it still is.

This box is whatever a litter box must be. It’s roomy. It has a strategically positioned cat-friendly entrance that makes it simple even for senior cats to get in as well as out of the box. The creative style (a minor protrusion across from the entrance) supplies a cue for cats to line up themselves lengthwise, so you won’t have to concern about urine going outside the box at the low entrance. The sides are high sufficient even for miss Ruby as well as her vertical peeing gyrations.

While I was more concerned about urine spillage, one more great benefit of the high sides is that it likewise keeps litter contained inside the box. Ruby as well as Allegra are litter kickers as well as they both get quite energetic when it pertains to covering what they produce. This box has kept that problem to a minimum. one more plus is that the smooth surface enables litter clumps to quickly release from the box’s walls – something that has not been the situation with a few of the other boxes, where panullnull

10 things grooming has Taught Me

By Daryl Conner
August 31, 2019
I count myself among the lucky few who can honestly state I have liked my work throughout my entire career.  For 35 years I have felt privileged to spend my days making family pets a lot more comfortable as well as attractive, as well as I’ve made a great living while doing so.

Looking back, I can see that costs over three decades scrubbing dogs as well as cats has taught me some useful lessons. right here are a few of the most crucial ones:

1 Don’t scrimp on crucial tools
It saddens me when I hear groomers say, “Oh I might never pay for high quality shears, a high velocity dryer, an electric table, a bathing system, a clipper vacuum system, etc.” These tools are investments—not only in a groomer’s career—but in themselves. selecting not to invest in the tools that make our work both safer as well as a lot more effective is an invitation to having a short grooming career.

2 never stop learning
One of the genuine joys of this occupation for me has been the understanding that there is so much a lot more for me to discover. From books to seminars, from Web groups where others share their own hard–won understanding to taking lessons from a lot more experienced groomers, there are actually limitless chances to discover as well as broaden your skills. This keeps the work fresh, difficult as well as interesting.

3 Be flexible
I discovered to groom in a little shop that used boarding as well as grooming when I was a young newlywed. From there, I worked at a large, hectic veterinary hospital. When I had a baby, I got innovative as well as ended up being one of the very first “house–call” groomers, working weekends as well as evenings when my hubby was house to enjoy our daughter. When she got older, I converted an RV as well as went mobile for a while. A cross–country step landed me in an upscale grooming health club environment, as well as now I have a charming grooming studio in my home. I have been able to tailor my task to in shape different needs at different stages of my life. exactly how lots of other careers can be so flexible?

4 Make groomer friends
Having buddies that comprehend the originality of our work is a big boon. grooming friends can not only empathize when you tell them you had an mishap that included loose stool as well as a high velocity dryer, they can likewise share lessons, shore up your backbone when you requirement it as well as share your pain when you tell them you dropped your new $300 scissors on the concrete floor.

5 go to trade shows
Where do you make groomer friends? trade shows, for one! Besides making buddies at shows, you can see as well as touch the current as well as biggest new tools, get hold of some show specials, go to classes to discover new techniques as well as methods (see #2 above), as well as get your batteries recharged. trade shows are an investment in your career, as well as just ordinary fun, too.

6 Be bold, choose the challenge
At the very first trade show I ever attended, I was mesmerized enjoying the grooming competition. As I observed the people in the sound producing art on living creatures, I thought, “I might never do that.” At the exact same instant, a bit voice in my head was yelling, “I want to do that!” as well as I did. I only stepped into the sound around a lots times, however I discovered so much each time I was strong sufficient to try. as well as though I am not a extremely competitive person, I discovered I extremely much took pleasure in contending in this area. I brought house some quite ribbons as well as trophies as well as feel great about (almost) whenever I was take on sufficient to groom in front of a crowd. grooming uses lots of chances to difficulty yourself.

7 Take care of your a lot of crucial tool
I am almost 60 as well as have some hearing loss, which I quality to years of utilizing a high velocity dryer without hearing protection. I am wiser now, as well as never dry without my reliable ear plugs. I am trying to keep in mind to utilize a mask to secure my lungs, too. I’ve always been quite great about investing in supportive shoes, anti–fatigue mats as well as an ergonomic stool. I am cautious of my back. Taking care of our bodies in a occupation that can be difficult on them is important. To any individual reading this who is just starting out, please take care of yourself now so you can keep grooming as long as you wish.

8 discover to state “no.”
There are times you have to turn away the hazardous dog, decline the unrealistic request or disappoint the client by not working on your day off, however discovering to politely, yet firmly state “no” is a terrific life lesson that can be discovered with a clipper in hand.

9 Be patient
My niece phone calls me, “Epically individual Aunt Daryl.” I discovered much of my patience with grooming. I realized early on that nothing is to be gained by ending up being testy when a poodle is dancingnull

Is There a link between coat color and Personality?

most cat guardians will adopt a cat based on her personality, but some also have a distinct preference for a particular coat color or pattern. but is there a link between coat color and personality? After all, both are controlled by genetics, so it wouldn’t be much of a leap to believe that there is a connection.

In a recent study, researchers from California state university and the new college of Florida surveyed nearly 200 people. study participants were asked to associate 10 personality terms (active, aloof, bold, calm, friendly, intolerant, shy, stubborn, tolerant and trainable) with five cat colors–orange, tri-colored (tortoiseshells and calico cats), white, black and bi-colored (white and anything else). While story respondents said they placed more emphasis on personality than coat color, there appears to be some evidence that the two are linked, at least in the cat guardian’s perception.

It appears that there are some commonalities between coat color and a cat’s personality, but it is important to keep in mind that these are generalizations, and each cat is a unique individual. color may be only one aspect of what shapes a cat’s personality. other factors, such as breed and environment also come into play.

Tabby cats

Tabbies have a reputation for being laid back, calm and more sociable. They’re also said to be very affectionate, and relaxed to the point of being lazy.

Black cats

Black cats can be stubborn and friendly at the same time. They are said to be good hunters, but they can have a tendency to roam. They’re good natured and sociable.

Orange (ginger) and red cats

Orange cats are usually males (only one out of five orange cats is female). Cats with this coloring can be laid back and affectionate, but can also have a bit of a temper. females tend to be more laid back than males.

Black and white cats

Black and white cats (some are known as tuxedo cats when their coat pattern resembles a tuxedo jacket) are said to be even tempered and placid, but they can also be wanderers. They can be very loyal to their family, typically to one person in particular, and can be real lap cats.

Tri-color cats

Tri-color cats such as tortoiseshell and calico cats have a reputation for unique personalities, typically referred to as “tortitude.” These cats can have a bit of a temper, and they tend to be very possessive of their guardians.

Blue, cream, gray and lilac cats

Cats that have lighter coat colors all carry the same gene, called the dilution gene. There is conflicting information on this particular coloring. Some sources say cats with these colors can be mischievous and a bit frantic, while others say they are laid back and mellow.

Grew up allergic to cats. Yet, loved& understood them, In 2007, an orange male tabby found me, I found Zyrtec ! Hollis ( he passed in 1/22) was always in my sight and I in his. He laid on me when I was Ill.. I never used my “hands” as toys (playtime). If he napped in the middle a room, we never woke and forced play… he trusted us . I feel he was a blessing in my life (I could go on ).
I held his sweet face when he passed.
Just before , he looked deeply in my eyes, and I his. I never felt that I could see a soul, I saw HIS. He stared into my eyes and I felt my soul taking in his love. What a wonderful “ginger “.
Last words I whispered..” you deserve to be happy. When it’s time .. go with our Lord. I will see you on the other side. You’re perfect.

Dog products At The OC Pet Expo

This post may contain affiliate links. We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
Every year we go to the OC Pet Expo we come home with a bag full of dog products for Stetson, Linus, and this year Dublin to try out.  After last years Orange county Pet Expo besides getting good deals on little stuffed doggy toys we also came away with two doggy toys that we had been eager to try.  The first was the outstanding treat machine Interactive dog toy which we never got around to testing.  However, we plan on giving Stetson a shot at reviewing the outstanding treat machine and add it to his list of dog product reviews.  The other big product we bought from last years Pet Expo was Vetericyn wound and infection treatment spray.  We were hoping this spray would help with Stetson’s dog skin allergies.  again we did not get a doggy product review posted to the web.  However, we plan on putting together a full review of Vetericyn in the coming weeks.

The outstanding treat machine Interactive dog toy – fun interactive cardboard pet toy.

Vetericyn Wound & Infection treatment – One step wound and infection treatment based on microcyn technology that works naturally with your animals immune system.

Once again we got a few plush toys that the boys will most likely shred to bits in a few minutes.  We were hoping to find some amazing new dog products at this years Orange county Pet Expo and while we did come across several items we were interested in purchasing we only came home with one new dog product we plan on reviewing on the website.

So what is the one product we plan on reviewing?  lets start off with an amazing idea we had years ago:
Way back in 2005 when I took my Aussie mix Linus on a camping trip we wondered through the near pitch black forest at night me with my trusty head lamp and Linus and his black fur blended right in with the darkness.  At the time I thought wouldn’t it be amazing if Linus had a fancy headlamp just like the one I was wearing, but a canine version.  After much (or maybe just a little) inner debate I assumed most dogs would be annoyed wearing a headlamp on their head just like most dogs hate wearing silly antlers or santa hats during the holidays.  So I dropped the entire idea.
Fast forward to the 2011 OC Pet Expo.  almost directly across from our guide Dogs of America booth was a small booth with a golden Retriever wearing a nice little LED light around his neck.  The dog product was quite simply called the PupLight dog safety Light!  very amazing and because it was around his neck it didn’t bother him much…it was only like wearing an extra collar.  While we still think our canine headlamp idea is still pretty amazing the PupLight is much more practical.

Upcoming dog product reviews from OC Pet Expo 2011
PupLight dog safety Light – PupLight makes walking a dog at night enjoyable by illuminating the path ahead.

So stay tuned for our upcoming PupLight dog safety Light Review!
One final note on dog products at the Pet Expo Orange County: we were also looking to grab some antlers and saw a number of exhibitors selling both venison and deer antlers for dogs, but ended up coming away with neither.  some of our fellow guide dog puppy raisers purchased some giant elk antlers for dogs that were about a foot long and two inches in diameter.  We also saw some much smaller antlers that were only about 4 inches in length and probably less than a half inch in diameter.  and finally we also saw a few that were sheered in half (we heard do not buy the antlers that are sheered in half as they don’t last nearly as long)  We weren’t too sure which would work best for Stetson’s powerful jaws so we decided a little more online research would be best.

By the way, after shopping around at the OC Pet Expo we thought we might be able to find better deals online.  However, the best deals were indeed at the Pet Expo along with the fact that you could haggle with the exhibitors, get bulk discounts, and also when the exhibitors saw Dublin in his guide Dogs of America jacket they automatically gave us a better deal.  So next year we’re going to make sure we bring a fat wad of cash to spend on our three pups.
Did you get a chance to check out this years Orange county Pet Expo?  If so, did you find any amazing dog products or watch any of the shows?

A check out With Samantha Martin and the remarkable Acro-Cats

I first met Samantha Martin two years ago, when she came through the Washington DC area with her remarkable Acro-Cats. I had been skeptical then. I’m well aware of the debate that surrounds circus performances, but after talking to Samantha for practically an hour and viewing her with her cats, I was able to put any misgivings aside. From the moment I met Samantha, I knew that I had encountered a kindred spirit. Samantha is passionate about cats and their well-being. She knew from the time that she was ten years old that she wanted to work with animals. A popular animal trainer with a degree in animal husbandry and studies in animal behavioral sciences, Samantha has worked with all sorts of animals, from rats to chickens to groundhogs.

The Acro-Cats’ hour long show features over a dozen stunning rescue cats who carry out tricks ranging from walking on tightropes and balls to jumping through hoops to bowling and ringing bells, and ends with a rousing performance of the only feline rock band in the world, The rock Cats.

I was in South Florida for a brief getaway two weeks ago, and my stay just happened to coincide with the Acro-Cats’ Lake Park, FL performance. It was fantastic to get a chance to catch up with Samantha, and very exciting to see the Acro-Cats’ new trip bus. When I last saw them, they were making finish with a 1963 general Motors bus that broke down much more typically than it ran. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Samantha was able to purchase a bus that was previously used by a touring rock band, and had it retrofitted to suit her needs.

The bus features comfortable cat condos, sleeping bunks for the humans, a small kitchen, a shower, and even a playroom for the cats. It also features an incubator which gets plenty of use whenever Samantha rescues orphaned kittens. because 2009, Samantha has found homes for much more than 200 cats. She works with rescue groups across the country by taking adoptable kittens on the road. because the Acro-Cats are in the same town for a few days, there are no same-day adoptions, and potential adopters are thoroughly screened by the local rescue before they get to take a kitten home. Living with this numerous cats in a small space can be challenging, but at the end of the day, Samantha wouldn’t trade her touring life for anything. “I wake up covered in cats every day,” says Samantha. “How much better does it get?”

Earlier this year, Tuna, the star of the show, passed away at the age of 15 from an aggressive form of cancer. Samantha was heartbroken. Tuna was an icon, and she left some mighty big paws to fill – so big, in fact, that it takes three young cats to do the job. Ahi Tuna, Albacore Tuna and big Eye Tuna are eager to learn the ropes, and while nothing will ever quite fill the hole in Samantha’s heart, she clearly loves these three young cats already.

The show is a fantastic blend of home entertainment and education: Samantha’s desire to educate others on how training can enhance the bond between cats and humans and resolve behavior problems drives everything she does. all of the cats are clearly having fun. Each cat had his or her tail straight up in the air running from and to the carriers they stay in on the side of the stage as they were called on to perform. They may not always carry out on cue, but their reluctance to do some of the tricks only makes the show much more endearing. A couple of the cats chose to take a walk around the theater rather than perform. One returned to the stage with several dollar bills tucked under his collar!

The show ended with a rousing performance by the rock Cats with special guest Cluck Norris, the chicken. After the show, Samantha invites the audience up on the stage to meet the cats and to take pictures. I found it impressive that the cats remained completely calm, even with all of these strangers around them.

The performance once again completely captured my heart. I experienced something I can only describe as pure joy, viewing these cats do something they really seemed to love.

I’ve seen the Acrocats several times in Chicago. That was Samantha’s home base until recently. The Chicago media love her and had her on the news shows numerous times. You can tell that she doesn’t force any cats to do anything they don’t want to do. As if they would! Jamnull

Missing My Old buddy Carter

x

Thinking about my finest dog buddy Carter that I lost a bit over 3 years ago. We were buddies for 13 years; perhaps I’m a bit emotional since it’s senior dog Month. perhaps I’m emotional since the emptiness of a lost pet is never rather filled. Whatever the reason I’m going to provide Laika some additional interest as well as pats on the head tonight.

Jimmy Stewart was an fantastic actor, he was likewise rather fond of his dogs.

“The reality is that it’s just truly difficult for me to get to sleep without a dog in my bedroom. It’s funny about that. I when had a dog named Beau. He utilized to sleep in a corner of the bedroom. Some nights, though, he would slip onto the bed as well as lie right in between Gloria as well as me. I understand that I should have pushed him off the bed, however I didn’t. He was up there since he desired me to pat his head, so that’s what I would do. Somehow, my touching his hair made him happier, as well as just the feeling of him laying against me assisted me sleep better. After he died there were a great deal of nights when I was specific that I might feel him get into bed next to me as well as I would reach out as well as pat his head. The feeling was so genuine that I composed a poem about it as well as about exactly how much it hurt to recognize that he wasn’t going to there anymore.” – Jimmy Stewart

Check out his fantastic poem “A dog named Beau” that he did on the Johnny Carson show.
